I could have said this in a simple tone. Right? Rather than this confusing tone. 

You may not be able to understand what I have said recently. And I made it harder for you to understand by using more complicated words in the sentence.

There are many reasons you should avoid using Jargon in your content, which includes:

The terms which might sound familiar and comfortable to you doesn’t mean every one of your audience might know what the word means. 

For example, to a Search engine optimization executive, the terms like bots, crawler, sitemap, a keyword may sound familiar. But to the audience, not everyone is familiar with such terms. 

Such terms are not just in SEO but in any field. You always want your audience to read and understand what you want to say. RIGHT? So for those familiar and straightforward terms helps a lot for your audience to understand. 

  • Jargon can be confusing

Jargons can be confusing.

Jargon and tricky words in the conversation are confusing. Your audience may take your tricky words in a completely different context than what you expect. 

Things may not work for them as they are now literally confused about what you have said in the complex language. 

And people hate being confused after reading something. It messes up with their minds and would run away from you and your content. 

Suppose you write the complex terms into a simple language which is easy for your audience to understand. They will always want content from you only. 



  • Jargon makes you less credible

A study at New York University tested how Jargon affects the response. One sentence was precise, to the point, and concise, and the other was with complex terms. 

And found mostly people loved the clear and to the point content rather than the problematic term sentence. 

Using complex terms may sound like an expert, but if your audience does not understand the content. It has no point. 

How can I improve my content? 

Avoid these common phrases that can help you improve your content. 

Avoid acronyms

Acronyms are the abbreviations of some commonly used phrases. Avoid using “ASAP” for As Soon As Possible and “LOL” for Lots of love. Use full phrases. 

 Avoid some phrase which includes

  • Out of pocket
  • Paradigm shift
  • Scalable
  • Robust
  • Big boy pants      

Simplicity always wins–  Your audience doesn’t demand you to be complicated and more sophisticated, making you look, expert. But simple terms that your audience can understand.
